Dennis A. Haggerty

Dennis Haggerty, 76, of North Smithfield, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at The Holiday, Lincoln. He was born to the late Herman and Theresa (Almon) Haggerty in Woonsocket.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanne (Sutherland) Haggerty, daughter, Tricia (Havunen) Dolan of Kennebunk, ME; and son, Matthew Haggerty of Woonsocket; grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler and Kendall Dolan, and Nicolas and Nicole (Dolan) Firth; as well as one brother, Robert Haggerty of Norwich, CT. He was predeceased by an uncle and aunt, James and Dorothy (Haggerty) Egan.

Dennis graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1961, joined the US Marines, and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He was passionate about vintage cars, construction, and followed the Boston professional sports teams. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. He enjoyed the coast of Rhode Island, especially Jamestown, as well as camping in Vermont.

His funeral will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10 AM, from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville, RI. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
