WOONSOCKET - Ernest ""Pete"" Dumont, 67, died May 24, 2016 in Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Centre, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Susan T. (Frechette) Dumont whom he married October 18, 1969 at Fort Riley, Kansas. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ernest J. and Mary (Woods) Dumont. Throughout his career Ernest worked as a mover with Ray Benoit Movers, a carpet layer with Mailloux Furniture, was a maintenance man at Rochambeau Worsted, a diesel mechanic at Pawtucket Ready Mix, and retired after twenty years as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 57 where he helped build the Jamestown Bridge and worked on the Providence Tunnel project. Mr. Dumont served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War having completed Boot Camp at Fort Dix, NJ and Artillery School at Fort Sill, OK and later stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He was a member of the Cercle Laurier, Woonsocket.Besides his wife Susan, he is survived by their daughters, Laura-Jean Dias and her husband Michael as well as Tracylyn Dubois and her husband Kenneth, all of Mapleville; two sisters, Edith Laramee, and Mary Perry both of Woonsocket; and his granddaughter Olivia Dubois. He was the father of the late Peter J. Dumont, and brother of the late Suzanne Sullivan.His funeral will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 7 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 8 AM in St. Paul's Church, 48 St. Paul's St., Blackstone, MA. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
