Evelyn M. Tenczar

Evelyn M. (Bailey) Tenczar, 94, passed away in Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on December 30, 2017. She was the wife of the late Edward Tenczar, whom she married in June of 1946. Born in Cooley, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Dagmar (Turpeinen) Bailey and step-daughter of the late Iona (Littler) Bailey.

In her teens, Evelyn was an accomplished accordionist playing at dances and on the radio in Hibbing, Minnesota with her father and uncles. After secretarial schooling, Evelyn worked for the Navy Department in Washington, DC where she met her husband. Moving to Woonsocket, she worked for Finkelsteins Clothing Manufacturer before she and Eddie opened Tenczar Studio in Woonsocket. In 1966 they moved to Park Square, North Smithfield, and relocated the Studio to that location. They operated a successful business together with photography and printing and did not slow down until they were well into their 80s.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Beauchemin and her husband Charles of North Smithfield; grandsons Jonathan Nelson and his wife Alicia of Exeter, Jesse Beauchemin and his wife Kristen of North Smithfield, and Kyle Beauchemin and his wife Megan of Cumberland, ME; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Bailey of CA; and two sisters, Patricia Sundstrom and Darleen Antinozzi of Minnesota. She was predeceased by her daughter, Audrey.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 14 Rock Ave, Pascoag, RI 02859.
