Helen Louise (Kilcline) Oakland, 86, of North Smithfield, passed away on September 13, 2017 in Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Francis Joseph and Mary Cecilia (Walsh) Kilcline.
Louise graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1950 and went on to graduate from the New York Foundling Hospital, NYC. She will be remembered as a caring and giving person, and someone that took care of others before herself. She worked as a Nurses Aid for St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield, for over twelve years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, a Eucharist Minister, and a member of the parish Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Apres Midi Club and the Trinity Club.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Oakland III, of Westfield, MA and Deputy Fire Chief (WFD) Christopher J. Oakland and his wife, Jessie, of Smithfield; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her sister, Jean LoPiano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 18, 2017 in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Avenue, Woonsocket.Burial will follow in St. Pauls Cemetery, Farm Street, Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence.
