John Notarangelo Obituary

John Notarangelo, 82, of Woonsocket, died Wednesday September, 21, 2016 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Barbara (MacDonald) Notarangelo to whom he was married 54 years. Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Matteo and Philomena (Barbaria) Notarangelo.

Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by his son, John M. Notarangelo of Woonsocket; his daughter, Lori Sevigny of Marlboro, MA; a sister, Clara Bourdeau; and two brothers, Michael and Joseph Notarangelo. He was the loving grandfather to Viola Notarangelo; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Suffoletto and Viola Plouffe; and two brothers, Nicholas and Matteo Notarangelo.

John was a 1953 graduate of Woonsocket High School and Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as an international representative of the America Clothing Textile Workers Union- AFL-CIO retiring in 1989. He was an active committee member of the Woonsocket High School Athletic Hall of Fame, a former board member of the YMCA, and Commissioner of the Woonsocket Housing Authority. John was an all around sportsman in baseball, basketball, football and volleyball.

Visitation will be held Sunday September 25, 2016 from 4 - 7 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket. A memorial mass will be held December 3, 2016 at 10 am in St. Charles Church, 190 North Main Street, Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Notarangelo Memorial Sportsmanship Award, c/o Blackstone River Credit Union, 10 Monument Square, Woonsocket, RI 02895
