Mary Virginia (Meagher) Greenhalgh, 95, of Central St., died October 7, 2017 in The Friendly Home, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Roy J. Greenhalgh. Born in Millville, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Buckley) Meagher.
Virginia was a homemaker and a communicant of St. Paul's Church, Blackstone. She loved to travel, and was an avid golfer. Additionally, she worked for Joe Kennedy's fuel assistance program for many years and found great joy in her work. Virginia’s family would also especially like to thank the staff of The Friendly Home for the care they provided over the past few years.
Virginia is survived by two sons, Roy Greenhalgh and his wife Margie of Blackstone and Charles Greenhalgh and his wife Tina Craig of Albany, NH; four daughters, Jill Greenhalgh-DelSignore and her husband Philip Shellhaas of Naples, FL, Jane McGovern and her husband Dan of Falmouth, MA, Karen Rouse and her husband Greg of Blackstone, and Monica Crozier and her husband Jeff of Millville; as well as eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Charles and James Meagher, Agnes Berkowicz, Eleanor Hagan, and Catherine Meagher and mother-in-law to the late Sandy DelSignore.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Paul's Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery on Farm St. in Blackstone. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 – 8 PM.
