Muriel M. (Myers) Brody, 101, of Boston, died August 8, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She was married to the late Dr. Sidney Irving Brody from 1940 until his death in 2010.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Israel and Pauline (Hermann) Myers. She attended Friends Select School and received a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design in 1939. She taught art in both public and private schools until her husband joined the Navy during World War II and they left Philadelphia. She spent 28 years active as a Naval officers wife until her husband retired. They then moved to Cumberland, Rhode Island, where Dr. Brody ran a private medical practice for nearly 30 years. In later years they lived at Goddard House in Brookline, Massachusetts, and she recently moved to Sherrill House in Boston.
A devoted wife and mother, she was also an accomplished cook. She created Olympic Seoul Chicken, a recipe that won the 1988 Delmarva Chicken Cooking Contest and remains popular on thousands of cooking websites.
She is survived by her children, Mitchell of Kfar Sava, Israel; Raymond, of Forest Hills, NY; and Diane, of Brookline, MA; four grandchildren, Claire Discenza, Eli Brody, Andrew Discenza, and Ariel Brody Vinitsky; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Congregation Bnai Israel, 224 Prospect Street, Woonsocket, RI. Burial will follow in Bnai Israel Cemetery, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket, RI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
