Nancy A. Ash

Nancy Ash 86, of Barrington, RI passed away peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital June 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Providence and raised in North Smithfield, RI. Eldest sister of Stuart Smith, of Jacksonville, FL, Marcia Rust of Melbourne, FL and Janice Milliken of Melbourne, FL. She was a graduate of Rhode Island Hospital Nursing School in 1954. She also was president of the Ballou Home for the Aged in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She worked as a Registered Nurse in many capacities, her favorite being Public Health. She leaves her daughters Pamela Pennine of North Smithfield, RI, Susan McCaffrey Morris of Cape Cod, MA, Beth Ives of Northfield, MA, and Jane Hoppe, of Cape Cod, MA. She leaves one son, Edward Pennine who also lives on Cape Cod. Nancy was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother to eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She enjoyed the beach, her friends, and (Providence Lying-In Hospital nursing friends), playing cards, and most of all spending time with her family. Nancy touched many lives in many ways. She was a strong and giving person and will be missed by her loved ones and always in their hearts. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family has requested that donations to Hattie Ide Chaffee Home, 200 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, RI 02915.

A Celebration of her life will be held privately in the near future.
