Rena Hemond

The loving matriarch of our family, Rena Andreoni Hemond, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018, under the watchful eye and compassionate care of the Ballou Home staff. She was 96 years old. Although she spent her entire life living within the same neighborhood in Woonsocket, she found great joy in being adventurous from travelling cross country with her girlfriends in the 1960s and seeing the world with her late husband, to being an avid tennis player and golfer all while taking care of her husband and familys essential needs, as only a good Italian mother could. In her work life she played a key role as the backbone of Hemond, Inc., the successful home improvement business she and her late husband built over several decades. She was a truly remarkable woman whose life was filled with unconditional love and concern for family and the friends she always treated as family. Once you were in her world, you were under her care. She knew what people needed before they did and moved into action to provide her signature help and support. Her lasting legacy will be what she, through both her words and actions, taught her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: dont hold a grudge, never take your health for granted, and find the joys, no matter how small, in each and every day.

Rena was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Gerry, and leaves behind her three children and their spouses: Dennis (Diane Robitaille), Janet (Sonny) Robidoux, and Donald (Sarah Esker); five granddaughters: Stacy (Brian), Joni (Jim), Jodi (Mark), Elizabeth (Ryan), and Katherine (Christopher); eight and a half great-grandchildren: Isabel, Tyler, Sophia, Madeline, Kendall, Breck, Lucien, Dylan, Theodore (on the way); many nieces and nephews, and her devoted best friend and first cousin, Feora Peloquin.

Services will be held on June 23, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Josephs Church, 1200 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Donations in her honor may be made to The Ballou Home Activity Fund, 60 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895.
