Rene Paulhus Obituary

Rene P. Paulhus, 80, of Grandview Avenue, Woonsocket, died on January 12, 2017, at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Rita (Martel) Paulhus of Woonsocket. They were married for more than 56 years. A lifelong resident of Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Gerard and Laurette (Baillargeon) Paulhus, Sr.

Mr. Paulhus worked at Almacs. He was the manager of Bells Liquors in Blackstone, Mass., and retired from the Woonsocket Education Department in 2000. He was a man of simple pleasures who worked hard his whole life and truly enjoyed helping others. His Catholic faith was important to him and he enjoyed visiting St. Theresas shrine in Nasonville. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife, Rita, he is survived by three sons, Marc Paulhus and his fiance Mary Jane Goslin of Providence, RI, Michel Paulhus and his wife, Grace, of Barnegat, NJ and Raymond Paulhus of Lincoln, RI; a sister, Jacqueline Girard of Woonsocket, and five grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Matthew, Nicole and Aidan Paulhus. He was the father of the late Andre Paulhus and brother of the late Roger Paulhus, Gerard Paulhus, Jr., and Lea Robin.

His funeral will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 and 9 a.m. from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 323 Rathbun Street, Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to All Saints Roman Catholic Church.
