Richard V. Walsh, Jr. 79, of Millville, died November 1, 2017 at Blaire House in Milford, MA. He was the husband of Emanuella Marie (Viera) Walsh whom he married May 10, 1958. Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Richard Sr. and Katherine (Whalen) Walsh.
He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1963. After Richards service he went on to work as a truck driver for Garelick Farms, Franklin, from 1972 until his retirement in 2000. He was a lieutenant of the Millville Fire Dept. for 17 years. Richard loved watching sports especially the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and NASCAR. He was a true depiction of a family man who loved to travel, dance, and spend time surrounded with family and friends.
Besides his wife Emanuella, Richard is survived by their two sons, Robert Walsh of Reading, VT and Christopher Walsh and his partner Bill Bradley of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Maureen Harris and her husband Ronald of Milford; two brothers, Patrick Walsh and his wife Dottie of Uxbridge and Philip Walsh and his wife Jan of Tampa, FL; sister, Margaret Taft and her husband Roger of Mendon and two grandchildren, Kirby Walsh and Erin Harris as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters Mary Girard and Elizabeth Walsh, daughter in law, Suzanne Walsh as well as his brother and sister in law, Roland and Maria Bouvier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11 AM in the St. Augustine Church, 17 Lincoln Street, Millville, MA. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Granite Street, Uxbridge, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development The Jimmy Fund, P.O. BOX 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
