Chrysoula Zerva

Chrysoula Zerva, 89, of Woonsocket, died May 28, 2022 at home. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Zerva. Born in Veria, Greece, she was the daughter of the late George and Despina (Martika) Cheamitrou.

Chrysoula worked as a seamstress for JC Penney and many local businesses. She was involved with St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed social get togethers and talking to her many friends. The conversations about their lives in Greece was always a topic when she visited with her sisters-in-law, Tasula and Petrula. She was a great cook and with Nico, they were a powerful team in the kitchen. Most importantly, she treasured her grandchildren and was always curious about what was going on in their lives.

She is survived her daughter, Jennie Kithes, and her husband George of Woonsocket; and her son, Lambri Zerva, and his wife Stephanie of Cumberland; and six grandchildren, Alexander Kithes, Ariana Kithes and her husband, Juliano Aaraj, Kayla, Jordan, Nicholas and Stephen Zerva. She was predeceased by her siblings, John, Dimitri and Antoni Cheamitrou and Marika Ghitsas.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Nursing Placement who have provided many years of exceptional care. Jess, Ora and specifically, Laurie Murray, provided comfort and compassion in her later days.

Her funeral will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895, with a service at 10AM in St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church, 501 East School St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John Romanian Orthodox, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church, 501 East School St., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
