Madeleine Kula Obituary

Madeleine M. (Lacasse) Kula, 99, of Woonsocket, died March 22, 2023 in St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Bernard F. Kula, to whom she was married 66 years. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Amedee and Angeline (Richard) Lacasse.

Madeleine was a graduate of the former St. Clare High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a secretary for Manville-Jenckes Company and Verhulst Comb Works. After her marriage, Madeleine was a homemaker, who devoted her time to her family. Madeleine also served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at Holy Family Church, and was more recently a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years, was an avid reader, and enjoyed word search puzzles. In her youth, Madeleine was a member of the Alexander Peloquin Chorale, and throughout her life, could often be found singing or humming a tune while going about her day. She was a nature enthusiast, who, with her husband, instilled a love of the outdoors in their children.

She leaves her children, Christine Kula Beauregard, and her husband Alan, of Carlisle, PA, Elizabeth M. Kula of North Smithfield, and Anne-Marie K. Silvi and her husband Joseph, of Dedham, MA; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her son, Vincent Kula, and her siblings, Eugenie Barthelemy, Therese Richard, Gisele Williams, Rev. Henri Lacasse, S.J., Rev. Roger Lacasse, Rev. Raymond Lacasse, O.M.I., and Victor Lacasse.

Her funeral will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Family Church, 414 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 - 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of RI, 70 Bath St., Providence, RI, 02908.
