Albertina (Alves) Browning, 95, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2018. She was the wife of the late Edgar A. Browning. Born in Ludlow, MA, she was the daughter of the late August and Theresa (Gonzales) Alves.
She worked as a nurses aide for Hospice St. Antoine of North Smithfield for twelve years, retiring in 1986. An avid reader, she was also a very skilled self-taught artist, focusing her talents on painting and other arts and crafts.
She is survived by a daughter, Albertina Sullivan of Blackstone; two sons, Edgar Browning of New Kent, VA, and David Browning of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John and Manuel Alves.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Pauls Church, 48 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery, Farm Street, Blackstone. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 -7 PM in the funeral home.
