Anthony J. Scrima, 89, of Douglas Ave., died July 31, 2017 in Hebert Nursing Home, Smithfield. He was the husband of Irene (Delfino) Scrima whom he married April 24, 1976. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Antoinetta (Cardinale) Scrima.
An Army Veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Scrima worked twenty-eight years as a Brakeman and Conductor for Fore River Railroad, Quincy, MA, retiring in 1988. He previously worked for New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad for eight years. Anthony was a member of the St. Josephs Veterans Club, Woonsocket, a member of the Brotherhood of Trainmen Union and he had also helped as an assistant dance instructor for his wife, Irenes, dance studio.
Besides his wife Irene, he is survived by two stepdaughters, Joanne Aznavorian of Harrisville and Maureen Fielding of Fernandina Beach, FL, three sisters, Mary Sullivan and Gina Scrima, both of West Roxbury, MA and Theresa Fay of Weymouth, MA, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, a nephew, Eric Scrima of Marlboro, MA and a niece, Toni Cross of Cape Coral, FL. He was the stepfather of the late Joseph Belliveau and brother of the late Eugene Scrima.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 314 Wrentham Rd., Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Sunday from 1 - 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 State St. #200, Providence, RI 02908.
