Barbara A. Richer

Barbara A. (Peterson) Richer, 87, formerly of Providence Pike, North Smithfield, died August 30, 2019 in St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Gilbert L. Richer. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Nils and Anna (Tenneson) Peterson.

She worked as an elementary teacher for the North Smithfield Public Schools for many years. After retirement, she worked part-time at the North Smithfield Public Library. She was a life-long member of St. James Episcopal Church, Woonsocket, where she served as a lector and volunteer for the annual May Breakfast. Barbara was proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed travelling, painting, and calligraphy.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jane Peach and her husband Donald of North Smithfield, and Ann Richer of Eugene, OR; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10 AM in St. James Episcopal Church, 24 Hamlet Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Theresas Cemetery, Ledoux Drive, Burrillville. Calling hours are omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St. Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield, 02896.
