Emily J. Wood

Emily J. Wood, 81, of Johnston, died August 26, 2019 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Ellery Wood, whom she married in 1975. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late John and Emily (Capellanio) Tarvis.

Emily worked as a waitress for many years for various restaurants. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Bingo, and bowling. She especially loved her computer games.

Besides her husband Ellery, she is survived by her two children, Dino Mencarini of Providence, and Audrey Wood of Johnston; five grandchildren, Derek and Morgan Mencarini, Eric and Joshua Rainville, and Andrea Mencarini; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Judith Hansen of FL; as well as a large extended family of cousins. She was the mother of the late John Mencarini, and the sister of the late Linda Bousquet and Norma Driver.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 beginning with visitation at 10 AM in Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a service to begin at 11 AM. Calling hours are Friday from 4 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Making Strides Cancer Walk, 931 Jefferson Blvd. Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
