Frederick J. Stone

Frederick J. Stone, 78, of Summer St., Blackstone, passed away July 3, 2019 at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Catherine (Murray) Stone, whom he married August 12, 1961. Born in Franklin, MA, he was the son of the late Albin and Mildred (Dugas) Stone.

Fred was the owner and operator of Screen Art of Woonsocket. He also previously worked with HH Screw Products of Lincoln. He served as Chairman of the Blackstone School Committee for 26 years, and as Treasurer of the Rhode Island State Elks for 10 years. Fred was awarded the RI State Elk of the Year Award in April of this year. Having served as Town Moderator in Blackstone, Fred enjoyed working at the polls for every election. He especially loved gardening, and his grandchildren.

Besides his wife Catherine, Fred is survived by their two children, James P. Stone and his wife Mary of Blackstone, and Catherine Karlock and her husband Larry of Canfield, OH; five grandchildren, Sean and Justin Stone of Blackstone, and Abbey, Paxton, and Sydney Karlock of Canfield, OH; as well as two brothers, Edward Stone and his wife Nancy of Mendon, MA, and William Stone and his wife Mary of Blackstone.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 beginning with visitation at 9 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salmon Hospice, 37 Birch Street, Milford, MA 01757.
