Gilberta Laliberte

Gilberta (Briere) Laliberte, 99, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2019 in the Ballou Home, a caring and loving community where Gilberta spent the last two years for her life. She lived in Cumberland for most of her life and moved to Manville once her children were grown. She was the wife of the late Rene Laliberte. Born in St. Gerard, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Ulric and Florida (LaPointe) Briere.

Mrs. Laliberte worked as an assembler for ten years for Foxboro Co., retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Manville Manor Association and the Manville Albion Golden Agers. From her birth in 1919 to her passing, she filled people around her with love, happiness and faith. She always made you feel like you were the favorite person in her life. Gilberta truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with family and friends, reading, crocheting and making the most wonderful Christmas ornaments.

She is survived by her son, Marc Laliberte and his wife Denise of Cumberland; two daughters, Paulette Marzini of Slatersville and Nina Parrett and her husband William of Cumberland; one sister, Lilianne Cochrane of Edgewater, FL; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Jacqueline and Paul Laliberte, and Laura Perona and sister of the late Florent, Roger, Benoit (Ben), Raoul (Ralph), Alcide (Sid), Aurelle (John), Paul, Leo and Joseph Briere, Marguerite Pierce, Jeanne Tanner, Laura LHeureux, Therese Marcotte and Mariette Hebert.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 8:45 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joan of Arc Parish, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Monday from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ballou Home Activities Fund, 60 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
