James Pratt Obituary

James Anderson Pratt of Hope Valley, RI, 72, passed away on July 4, 2018 at his nursing home in Woonsocket.

After graduating from South Kingstown High School in Rhode Island, he went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College, with a major in Russian Area Studies. He had spent one summer in high school traveling around Russia with a group from the American Friends Service Committee. After college graduation, he joined the Peace Corps, teaching English for two years in Tunisia and six months in Togo. Later, he earned two Masters degrees in clinical psychology and education as well as teaching certifications k-12. He worked for the Rhode Island state government and as a substitute teacher. He was passionate aboutfishing, canoeing and camping, going on many long canoe trips in Canada with friends and family and working as a mate on a deep sea fishing party boat for several summers. He enjoyed getting to know people, and even near the end of his life, he loved to make people laugh.

Jim is survived by his two children, Catherine Laura Pratt Stemle, and Rachel Sarah Pratt and his sister, Susan Pratt Walton.
