Joan Clark Obituary

Joan C. (McGinnis) Clark, 81, of North Smithfield, passed away on June 2, 2018, in the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late James H. Clark, Esq. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Cafferty) McGinnis.

Joan graduated from St. Josephs School of Nursing, continuing her education at Boston College where she received her Bachelors degree and Boston University graduating with her masters degree. She went on to be a teaching instructor at the Laboure School of Nursing and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Maternal and Child Health Dept., retiring in 1999. Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed playing dominos. Joan and James spent summers in Kennebunk, ME where Joan loved to stroll along the beach.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Larochelle and her husband Ray of Woonsocket and one brother, Charles McGinnis and his wife Gloria of Narragansett. Joan was preceded in death by her husband James H. Clark, Esq. in 2017 and her brother, Bernard McGinnis.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Josephs Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA at 1 PM. There will be no procession, the family kindly asks anyone who would like to attend the burial to please meet at the cemetery office, located at 990 LaGrange St., West Roxbury, MA at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept.142 Memphis, TN 38101.
