John ""Joe"" DeThomas

John Joe DeThomas, 96, of Woonsocket, passed away on January 1st at St. Antoines Residence. He was the husband of Dorothy (Bardell) DeThomas for 74 years. Born in Woonsocket in 1923, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Head) DiTomasso.

Joe was a retired firefighter, serving the city of Woonsocket for over thirty years. He enjoyed golf, the Boston Celtics and vacationing with his wife. Joe was known for his generosity and love for his family and he will be sorely missed.

Alongside his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by their three children, James DeThomas and his wife, Helen, of Woonsocket; Christine McMann and her husband, Kevin, of Cranston; and Barbara Kafalas and her husband, Dennis, of Glendale; and his brother Vincent DeThomas of Maryland. Joe also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Josh Stone, Jennifer Maynard, Daniel and Timothy Kafalas, Donna DeThomas and Anna McMann; and 6 great grandchildren, Cam and Olivia Stone; Jake and Joey Diogo; and Dylan and Mya Kafalas.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI.
