Judith Ethier Obituary

Judith Ann (ORourke) Ethier of Nasonville passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the loving home of her sister and brother-in-law. Formerly of Woonsocket, Judy was the wife of Paul F. Ethier of Nasonville and daughter of the late James and Anna (Kilcline) ORourke. She is predeceased by her brother Robert ORourke and her two children; Agnes V. and Tricia J. Hopkins. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Hopkins) Gaffney and her husband Anthony of Berkley, MA, her sister Kathleen (ORourke) Cunha and her husband John of Lincoln, her 5 grandchildren Jessica, Tony, Amanda, Bud Julia, 3 great grand-children Jackson, Landon Skylar, 2 step-children Robin and Mitchell and her beloved English Springer Spaniel Mickey.

Judy was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and the Holy Ghost Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge MA. She loved her chosen profession of nursing. Initially employed at Woonsocket Hospital, she then spent over 20 years at Fogarty Hospital where she proudly ran the Occupational Health Department. During her retirement years she worked as a nurse at the Wyatt Detention Facility and for the Massachusetts Department of Correction.

In her early years, Judy was a stand out in many of the communities in which she served. Beginning in High School, she was the Vice President of the nurse-mates, was the Vice President of her nursing school class, spent many years as the President of the Fraternal Order of Police Womans Auxiliary Club and the President of the Fogarty Hospital Womans Guild. During her tenure as President of the Guild, she orchestrated two Arthur Fiedler concerts held at the Stadium Theater in Woonsocket. While Judy was proud of her career and accomplishments, she spent most of her time talking of her very greatest accomplishment, her daughter, Jennifer who fondly called her Woman!

Her funeral will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 190 North Main St., Woonsocket.
