June Payne Obituary

June A. (Graffius) Payne, 79, of South Main St., Woonsocket, passed away January 14, 2018 in Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Raymond Payne, whom she married on December 31, 1979. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Follett) Graffius.

June performed glass work for the former Amperex Company for over 20 years. She was a lifelong horseback rider, loved country music, and her cat Smokey. She also loved her late cat Mickey, although he was known to be quite unpopular with anyone else he met.

Besides her husband Raymond, June is survived by a son, John Masse and his wife Rene of North Smithfield; a step-son Michael Payne and his wife Carol of West Gardner, ME; two daughters, Debra Backes of Archer, FL, and Dawn Whelan and her companion Mike Hadley of Pascoag; three step-daughters, Colleen Eugley and her husband Douglas of Sydney, ME, Trisha OConnor and her companion Paul Doucette of Kingfield, ME, and Cheryl Gibson and her husband Bill of Steep Falls, ME; as well as twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Shirley Martin.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Contributions in Junes memory are encouraged to be made to the Humane Association of Northwestern Rhode Island, P.O. Box 355 Pascoag, RI 02859.
