Laura I. Lemek-Strojny

Laura I. (Woodman) Lemek-Strojny, 91, of Chepachet, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 in the Philip HulitarInpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Matthew F. Lemek. Born in Milford, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Laura (Corbett) Woodman.



Laura was an assembler at Uniroyal for 22 years, and also worked for Garelick Farms, and the Millipore Corporation. She was a member of the Glocester and Bellingham Senior Centers, and, was a chaplain for the New England Country Music Club. She was a parishioner at St Eugenes Church in Chepachet.



She leaves two sons, Richard Lemek and his wife Gail of Putnam, CT and David Lemek and his wife Debbie of Burillivlle; her daughter, Viola Robidoux of South Kingston; her daughter in law Maureen Lemek of Richmond: her sister Florence Matos of Milford, MA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Michael , Robert and Steven Lemek; six brothers, Joseph, Wilbur, Walter, Edward, Charles, and Henry Woodman; and her sister, Viola White. She was a beloved Aunt to all her many nieces and nephews



Nana was the Matriarch of the family, a very special person who most loved her family. She enjoyed all the family get togethers and vacations as well as the quality time she spent with her grandkids and great grandkids who range from age 2 to 44. She was a very generous person with her heart and time.



She enjoyed working on the family genealogy with her niece. She also enjoyed playing Cribbage where she is a member of the prestigious 29 Club. Laura loved to travel having enjoyed trips to Ireland and Greece among her favorites and also the rugged northwest on the coast of Oregon and Washington. Laura loved Country Music and being a member of the New England Country Music Club and participating in the weekly dances.



Her funeral will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:15 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a food bank of the donors choice or Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
