Ronald Smith Obituary

Ronald E. Smith, 69, of Duluth, GA formerly of Harrisville, RI, passed away January 2, 2019 at Gwinnett Medical Center, Duluth, GA. He was the husband of Judith A.(Duquet) Smith. Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Ralph and Olive (Belhumeur) Smith.

Ronald was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy and attended Providence College. Ronald is a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army. He worked over 30 years for MeadWestvaco, formerly Polytop Corporation, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and watching the Patriots.

Besides his wife, Judith, Ronald is survived by their son, Jason Smith and his wife Victoria of Duluth, GA and his grandchildren Brandon and Katherine; Ronald is also survived by his brother Ralph Smith, Jr., along with a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Smith.

His funeral will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 beginning with calling hours at 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America (www.vva.org).
