Verna Gagnon-Conway Obituary

Verna L. (Adams) Gagnon-Conway, 95, of Coe St., Woonsocket, died December 9, 2018 in Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Joseph C. Gagnon and the late John A. Conway. Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late William and Augusta (Archibald) Adams. She lived in Woonsocket for most of her life but lived in North Smithfield for twelve years.

Verna worked as a Teachers Assistant for Woonsocket Public School system. She was also previously employed as Head Receptionist at the YMCA, Woonsocket and as an Inventory Controller for Micro Fibers, Pawtucket; ultimately retiring at 62 years of age. She previously volunteered at the local food pantry and OLQM Carnival. Verna was a communicant at the former Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Woonsocket. A member of the board of directors for the Trinity Club, past president and treasurer of the Woonsocket Jr. Womens Club, PTA member at Andrews St. School, as well as a part of the Woonsocket High School 1941 reunion committee. She enjoyed oil painting, camping, reading and gardening.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Gagnon and his wife Donna of Woonsocket; two step- sons, Michael Conway and his wife Laurel of Rochester, MA; Gregory Conway and his wife Betsy of Charlestown, RI; two daughters, Kathleen Granken of Woonsocket, Christine Chevrette and her partner Alfred Raymond of Woonsocket; one son-in-law, Lewis Nassi of North Providence; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Nassi; five brothers, Samuel, John, William, Herold and Walter Adams and one sister, Elizabeth Lemainian.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Family Parish, 414 S. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours will be held Friday, 5-8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Rhode Island, 1085 N. Main St. Providence RI 02904.
