Vivian E. (Bergeron) Godin, 74, of Woonsocket, died, after a courageous battle with ALS, on January 26, 2018 in Hope Hospice Palliative Care, Providence. She was the wife of 54 years to Richard Godin. Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (St. Onge) Bergeron.
She was a graduate of the former St. Clare High School class of 1961. She worked in the accounting department for 16 years at J. H. Lynch Sons, Cumberland. Vivian was on the Board of Directors at the YWCA, a member of the Woonsocket Harriers, White Mountain Milers and the Johnson and Wales Athletic club. She was a strong advocate of ALS of Rhode Island and was probably one of their biggest fundraisers. Vivian received the Brian Dickinson Courage Award. She enjoyed mountain biking, kayaking, running, skiing, snowshoeing and spending time in Freedom, NH.
Besides her husband, Richard, she is survived by her son John Godin and his wife Elizabeth of Sandy Hook, CT; two grandchildren, Christopher and Mitchell, sister in law, Jo-Ann Godin of Warwick and several cousins and many friends both here and in the North Conway area.
Her funeral will be held February 3, 2018 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Precious Blood Church, 94 Carrington Ave, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 314 Wrentham Road, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 8 PM in the funeral home.
