William Danny Maher III, 65, of Blackstone, passed away after a long battle with cancer on January 3, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Whitinsville, MA, he was the son of the late William, Jr. and Margaret (OBrien) Maher.
Danny attended Blackstone High School and in 1971 he enlisted in the United States Army and served three years in Germany.
Danny worked as a truck driver for Mega Solutions in Seekonk. He loved traveling but most of all loved riding his Harley Davidson up north to New Hampshire and Vermont. He also loved watching the sunrise at Galilee and reading. Danny was an avid Red Sox fan and Patriots fan.
He is survived by his sister Peggy Soullier and her husband Paul of Blackstone; his brother James Maher and his wife Gale of Bellingham; his nephew Patrick Soullier of Blackstone; his niece Dawn Lavallee, her husband Jason and their three children, Cole, Evan, and Dylan all from Millville.
His funeral will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket, with aMass of Christian Burial at 11 AM inSt. Pauls Church, 48 Saint Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Amedisys Foundation and mailed to MetroWest Hospice, 200 Nickerson Road, Suite 110, Marlborough, MA 01752.
