William Scanlon Obituary

William Michael Scanlon, 96, of Woonsocket, passed away June 11, 2018 at Trinity Health Rehabilitation Center. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Shields) Scanlon.

He worked at Clark Cutler McDermott Mill for over 25 years as well as various other mills in the area and also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the VFW in Franklin, MA.

He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Nault and her husband Darren of Anchorage, AK, and Carol Tyler and her husband Harold of Milford, MA; four sons, Raymond Scanlon and his wife Heidi of Mashpee, MA, Mark Scanlon and his wife Beth of North Attleboro, MA, Richard Scanlon of Yarmouth, MA, and Charles Scanlon of FL; as well as twenty-one grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late William J., Maurice E., and Helen Scanlon, grandfather of the late Harold Tyler, Jr., and the brother of the late, Maurice and John Scanlon and Mary Flannagan.

Williams family would like extend deep gratitude to Christine E. (Scanlon) Murillo and her husband Eric for the genuine acts of kindness and great comfort given to William over the past several years. They would also like to gratefully acknowledge the remarkable staff at Trinity Health Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI. Calling hours are omitted. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center, Alzheimers Unit, 4 St. Joseph St., Woonsocket RI 02895 in memory of William.
