William “Bill” J. Glenn, 76, of Woonsocket, passed away May 19, 2018 in Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Brenda (Cordero) Glenn. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late George and Nora (Spillane) Glenn.
He spent his life working in the food and hospitality industries. He was the owner and operator of the former J.B. Callahan’s and Billy Glenn’s Restaurants in Brooklyn, NY. Customers and clients enjoyed his warm, gregarious nature. Before retirement, Bill worked as doorman at 15 Broad St, a/k/a the Downtown Condominium. When he was not working, Bill loved long, meandering walks in his native New York City. He was fond of quiet afternoons at the beach. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by a son, Brendan Glenn, and his wife Meaghan of Hyde Park, MA as well as a half-sister, Patricia Scott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 9:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 19 Sidney Place, Brooklyn, NY. Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 30, at 11:00 AM in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bill’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket, RI.
