Alan J. Eaton, 82, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home, March 24, 2025. He was the husband of Lucienne C. (Henault) Eaton, whom he married October 12, 1965. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late James E. and Claire R. (Remy) Eaton.
Alan was a 1960 graduate of Tollman High School and attended RISD and Northeastern University. He served six years in the engineering section of the Army National Guard. He was an engineer, ending his career working for Power-One. In his retirement, Alan worked at Toll Brothers as a finish carpenter. He was a handyman who fixed everything that needed his attention. Alan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and gardening. He was also an animal lover who raised horses, ducks, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs throughout the years. Devoted to his faith, he was an active communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church since 1967, where he taught CCD and led the rosary prayer group every Saturday. Alan was a member of the Lions, serving as president for three years, the Woonsocket Elks, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a humble, kind, loving man to all.
Besides his wife, Lucienne, he leaves their four children, Michael Eaton, Lynn Robinson, Brian Eaton, Lisa Laferriere, and their spouses. As a grandpa, he leaves ten grandchildren, Alexander Laferriere, Ashlyn Eaton Deluca, Matthew Laferriere, Joshua Robinson, Cassandra Laferriere, Lukas Eaton, Cameron Eaton, Cole Eaton, Jackson Laferriere, and Hannah Eaton. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Greyson Robinson, and Fiona Deluca. Alan leaves his three siblings, Jane Gagne and Gregory and David Eaton, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Dennis Eaton.
His funeral will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St. Slatersville. The burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
