Anthony P. Amantea, 79, of North Smithfield, RI, died September 11, 2024 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Ann-Marie (Marandola) Amantea, whom he married June 3, 1967. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Elizabeth (Gallo) Amantea.
Anthony was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving in the Marines. He was a paint coating specialist for Devoe Paint, and later Sherwin Williams, retiring in 2015. He loved animals, especially his dog, Aela. Anthony was all about his family - they were everything to him.
Besides his wife, Ann-Marie, he leaves their children, Anthony Amantea, II of North Smithfield, Stephanie Bergen of North Attleboro, and Michele Amantea, of North Smithfield; his brother, Phil Amantea of Providence; and three grandchildren, Austin, Talia and Tori Amantea. He was predeceased by his brother, Pasquale "Pat" Amantea, and his son-in-law, Charlie Bergen.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Providence VA Medical Center, 830 Chalkstone Ave., Voluntary Service (135), Providence, RI 02908 or to the Friends of North Smithfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 653, Slatersville, RI 02876.
