Barbara A. (Larchesvesque) Hoppe, 82, of Forestdale, died September 9, 2025 in her home. She was the wife of Frederick "Billy" Hoppe, Sr. whom she married June 26, 1965. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Dorothy (Wilcox) Larchevesque.
Barbara was a former student at Eleanor Howard Kindergarten (The Little Red School House) in Forestdale. Barbara worked as a winder for Stamina Mills, where she met her husband. She was known as the "crafty lady", knitting sweaters for her family that have been passed through the generations, and fine thread crocheting beautiful bedspreads, table cloths, and even a picture of Jesus. Mrs. Hoppe enjoyed trips to Twin River, wintering in Clearwater, FL since 1985, and was an avid Yankees fan. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas.
Besides her husband, Billy, she leaves their children, Kevin Hoppe and his wife, Jane, of Osterville, MA, Frederick Hoppe, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Forestdale, and Bethanie Clifford, and her husband, Andrew, of Dunedin, FL; eight grandchildren, Tessa, Pamela, Melissa, Emily, Brandon, Jillian, Kia and Cotey; three great grandchildren, Adeline, Charlotte and Alexander; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Angel. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Walling.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Slatersville. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of North Smithfield Animal Shelter, PO Box 653, Slatersville, RI 02876, in honor of Barbara's love for animals.
