Barbara "Bobbie" B. Rosenau, 93, of Montague, MA, died January 2, 2025 at The Village at Waterman Lake, Greenville, RI. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William A. Rosenau. Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Opal (Noland) Barker. She was raised by her guardians, Marty and Vance Barton, from the age of 6 after her mother’s death.
Bobbie was a 1955 graduate of Mississippi Southern College and a proud member of the Delta Sigma Epsilon sorority. She spent her summers working at The Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod where she started as a “vegetable girl” and was quickly promoted to hostess because of her southern charms! Bobbie’s subsequent secretarial career led her to become the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Natural Science at Hampshire College, retiring in 1989.
An active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Amherst, MA, and St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Easthampton, Bobbie added a lovely soprano voice to both choirs. She also sang with the Blanche Moyse Chorale in Brattleboro, VT. She was a lover of Dixie Land Jazz, Bonnie Raitt, Keb Mo and any music that made her dance and sing. She was an avid reader, making weekly trips to her local libraries. Bobbie was a passionate perennial gardener, creating multiple gardens at her home in Montague. She knew all of her plants and trees by their Latin names! Bobbie was an excellent seamstress, quilter, and loved needlepoint. She was a gourmet cook and fearless in the kitchen-everything from German Chocolate cake to Hot & Sour soup. Much to the delight of her friends and family, she frequently hosted dinner parties at her home. Bobbie adopted many older cats and dogs. She adored having a cat on her lap and a dog at her feet.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Belliveau and her husband Edward Aronson of Moosup, CT; her step-children, Thea Prostko and her husband Mark of Northampton, PA, Kristen Rosenau of Savoy, MA and William B Rosenau and his wife Rhea of Wautoma, WI; her grandchildren, Lorna Aronson, Gillian and Olivia Prostko and Riley Brandso.
