Bernadette L. Souza

Bernadette Bernie L. Souza, 83, of Lincoln, died September 7, 2021 in the HopeHealth - Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of Roy P. Souza, whom she married on October 3, 1959. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Doris (Girard) Mandeville.

Bernie worked as a Lunch Lady for over 30 years, in Woonsocket High School, and retiring in 1999 from Lincoln High School. She was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Trinity Parish, Woonsocket. Bernie, who also went by the name Mimi loved caring for and spending time with her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Roy, she is survived by two sons, Roy R. Souza, of North Smithfield, and David Souza, of Johnston; four brothers, Maurice and Albert Mandeville, of Woonsocket, Paul Mandeville, of Natick, MA, and Charles Mandeville, of Harwich, MA; two grandchildren, Jordan and Benjamin Souza; and her Daughter-Inherited, Kimberly A. Souza of Lincoln. She was predeceased by her brothers Marcel, Jean, and Lucien Mandeville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10AM in Holy Trinity Parish, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Project, 1516 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.
