Carol A. (Tobin) Naylor, a longtime resident of North Smithfield, died January 14, 2026. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Tobin, Sr. and Alice H. (Ladouceur) Tobin.
Carol was a 1955 graduate of Woonsocket High School, and a 1958 graduate of the former Pawtucket Memorial School of Nursing. She attended area colleges for continuing education throughout her life, as education was very important to her. Carol worked for several area hospitals as an OR nurse and supervisor. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. As an animal lover, she was a longtime volunteer for the North Smithfield Animal Shelter for over 30 years.
She leaves her daughter, Elizabeth Deslauriers and her husband, Michael, of North Smithfield; her grandson, Robert J. Naylor of North Smithfield; her godchild, Stephanie Tessier; many nieces and nephews, including MaryAnn Abott, Patricia Busko, Maureen Desrosiers, and Stephen and Christopher Tobin; her cat, Bug; and her granddog, Rosie. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Naylor, who was killed by a drunk driver on April 5, 1992; her brother, Stephen Tobin, Jr.; and her sister, Barbara Saragian.
Carol tried to live her life by this creed:

Her funeral will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 beginning with visitation from 9-10 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
