Charles V. Collins, 81, of Franklin, died June 13, 2026, in UMass Medical Center, Worcester. He was the husband of Laurie (Novack) Collins. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Trudeau) Collins.
After attending Mount St. Charles Academy, Charles served in the Air Force. While stationed in St. Albans, VT, he married his first wife, Catherine Shepard. Together they had two sons. Charles was a youth hockey coach for several years for the Woonsocket North Stars. He was a graduate of Bryant University and worked many years for Amprex in Slatersville, RI, retiring as a systems analyst. He enjoyed researching his family lineage, driving his convertible, watching hockey, formula 1 racing, football, and golf. He was an avid computer user and a member of the now dissolved Boston Computer Society. And although he was never one to admit it, he enjoyed spending time with his extended family.
Besides his wife, Laurie, he leaves his sons, Thomas Collins and his husband, David Pride, of Chester, VT and Sean Collins and his wife, Maureen, of Whitinsville, MA; his sister, Jacqueline Payette of Woonsocket; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William Collins, and two sisters, Frances Landry and Patricia Spinella.
His funeral will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM In St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
