Claire I. (Lacouture) Woodworth, 96, of North Smithfield, passed away October 6, 2023 with her family by her side. She was the wife of Ernest Woodworth. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Trinque) Lacouture.
Mrs. Woodworth was a 1944 graduate of St. Clare High School, a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing, a 1955 graduate of Boston College, and in 1956 she received a Master's Degree in Science & Nursing from Boston University. She worked as a School Nurse Teacher for the Woonsocket School Dept., retiring in 1995. Claire was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, and was a member of the North Smithfield Garden Club. She was a charter member of the North Smithfield Heritage Association, she received the Francesco Cannistra M.D. Memorial Award in 1995, and she began the Clean and Green Day and Adopt-A-Spot in North Smithfield.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Woodworth and his wife, Karen, of North Smithfield; a daughter, Michele Gerber of North Smithfield; five grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Laura, Kevin, and Jared; as well as, a great granddaughter, Odette. She was the sister of the late Elaine Marteka.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
