David Stearns Obituary
David R. Stearns, 75, of Harrisville, died May 28, 2021 in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Claire (Beauchemin) Stearns. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Edythe M. (Reynolds) Stearns.
David was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a 1979 graduate of Bryant College. David worked for Blackstone Valley Gas Electric for 35 years, as an accountant, and later worked for the Public Utility Commission for the State of RI from 2001-2014 where he was awarded recognition for serving the public of Rhode Island. He was a communicant of St. Theresas Church, Harrisville, he was also a lector, and received the Pastors Award for several years of service on their Finance Council. David also loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. One of the things that brought him much enjoyment was riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends.
Besides his wife, Claire, he leaves their daughters, Renee Boulay of Lincoln, and Susan Sionni of North Providence; three sisters, Ruth Lambert of Glendale, Alice Phaneuf of Warwick, and Carol Gauvin of Cumberland; two grandsons, Ayden Boulay and Adam Sionni. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Stearns.
His funeral will be held Friday, June 4, 2021, beginning with visitation from 9 - 10:30 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Theresas Church, 35 Dion Drive, Harrisville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
