Diana E.M. (Chatt) Jackson, 90, of Slatersville, died July 17, 2024 in the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late James Jackson. Born in England, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Olive (Barnes) Chatt.
She leaves her nephew, Martin Chatt, his wife Jo, and their three children, Tom, Flora, and Hattie, all of the UK.
Diana served as a charge nurse in England before becoming a Lieutenant serving the British Army staff and charge nurse in Malaysia. She came to live in New York City where she furthered her education with a B.S. in nursing and a M.B.A. in Health Care Administration, which she put to good use. During her residence in Slatersville, she continued working in Administrative Medical positions in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, retiring in 2017. Diana was a long time member of the Slatersville Congregational Church, where she served as a Deaconess, and on other committees, also serving as a Stephan Minister. Her greatest joy was knitting prayer shawls to give to someone going through tough times, as well as knitting baby blankets and hats for babies in the hospital NICU units. Diana was a woman who live her life to the fullest and with purpose, at times stubborn, but in a good way. She was loyal to her friends and family and accepted what life brought her without complaints and a smile.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024, beginning with visitation at 11 AM, followed by a service at Noon in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Memorial donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
