Dolores G (Levitre) Lafleur, 92, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021 at Bayberry Commons in Pascoag. She was the wife of the late Alcide P. Lafleur. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Sylva O. and Ida (Gonze) Levitre.
Dolores had worked at the Bijou Theatre in Woonsocket before working as a bookkeeper, a waitress, and at Birch Hill Poultry in North Smithfield. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities throughout her life, any type of crafting, traveling, visiting with her grandchildren and especially loved all the family get-togethers. She was an avid animal lover like her husband, Al who never thought twice of “babysitting” the family pets. Together they were avid New England sports fans of the Red Sox, Bruins and the Patriots. She also enjoyed getting autographs from sports celebrities any chance she got joining her children and grandchildren like one of the kids. As a mother of young children, she attended every game they played in and was a co-founder of the North Smithfield Little League Women’s Auxiliary to help support the league in fundraising at Pacheco Park.
She was especially proud of her travel to California when she was able to meet with President Ronald Reagan along with her two sisters and cherished those pictures and shared with her family.
She leaves a daughter, Suzanne (Lafleur) Gazaille and her husband Roland of North Smithfield, RI; and three sons, Gerard Lafleur and his wife Sheryl of Burrillville, RI; Dr. Richard Lafleur and his wife Pamela of Derry, NH; and former North Smithfield School Committee Chairman Robert Lafleur, of North Smithfield, RI. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Roland “Randy” Gazaille III and his wife Alexis of Dayton, OH; Timothy Gazaille of Steamboat Springs, CO; Kathryn (Gazaille) Galvin and her husband Michael of North Smithfield, RI; Dr. Jarret Lafleur and his wife Dr. Stephanie Chen in Maryland; Justin Lafleur of Pennsylvania; Sarah Halonen and her husband Jared in Hawaii , Scott Lafleur of Tucson, AZ; Amy Lafleur of Connecticut; and Nicholas Lafleur of North Smithfield and Jessica Lafleur of Fort Meyers, FL. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, Connor and Kylie Galvin, Wyatt and Walker Gazaille, and Sullivan Halonen as well many nephews and nieces.
As her granddaughter Jessica said recently, “I hope God has plenty of chicken fingers , M & M’s and H2O ready to welcome her!” Every time we have chicken fingers, M & M’s and H2O, we will be thinking of her.
As the last surviving member of the Levitre generation she was predeceased by five brothers, J. Gaston, J. Albert, Bertrand, Gerard, and Giles Levitre, and four sisters, Liette Turcotte, Dorothy Levitre, Laurette Hebert, and Rita Rainville.
There are no calling hours. Her funeral will be public in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines and protocols with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10 AM and may be viewed live at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/99293025 Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket.
