Donna Kane Obituary

Donna E. (Hart) Kane, 67, of Pound Hill Rd., North Smithfield, passed away peacefully October 9th, 2018 at Fatima Hospital in North Providence with her family by her side. She spent the best years of her life with her long-time companion, Andre Sauv, who together recently celebrated their thirtieth anniversary. Born and raised in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Dana and Lucille (Theroux) Hart.

Donna was proud to be a graduate of Woonsocket High School as a member of the Class of 1969, and worked for twenty years as an administrative assistant with Woonsocket Head Start and later for the Special Education Department of the North Smithfield School Department. Donna will often be remembered as a determined and independent woman who strived to put others before herself, regardless of her physical disability. Her voracious attitude towards life and love, as well as her caring and non-judgmental nature, will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Donna was a lifelong Red Sox fan who bathed in the glory of meeting and talking to her favorite player, Big Papi David Ortiz while he was on rehab assignment at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, one of Donnas favorite destinations. She loved spending her days with her dog, Nahla Rose, crafting in any and all possible ways or taking a ride through her garden while enjoying the neighborhood birds and taking photos. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble with her best friends, Dianne and Elaine.

Besides her companion Andre, Donna is survived by their son, Shawn Kane of North Smithfield and his fiance Ariel Woolsey; a grandson, Phoenix Caron of Woonsocket; nieces Debra, Jill, Natalie and Valerie; nephews Scott, Charles and Jean-Christophe; and great-nephews James and Mason. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Rita Guillette, sister-in-law, Diane Pouliot and her husband Claude; and a brother-in-law, Michael Sauv and his wife Lis, all of Sherbrooke, Quebec. Donna also leaves a large extended family and an even larger group of the best friends a person could have. She was predeceased by her parents, Dana and Lucille, her sister Sandra Whipple and her husband Newton, her sister Judith Langford and her husband William, and her brother Richard Hart.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Slatersville Congregational Church, On the Common, 25 Green St., Slatersville, RI. In lieu of flowers, Donnas family is asking for donations to be made in her memory to the local animal shelter or animal rescue league of your choice.
