Edward P. Patten of Titusville, Florida, 79, formerly of Attleboro, Massachusetts, passed away on January 5, after a period of declining health. Eds strength, compassion and optimism will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ed leaves his wife of 34 years, Genevieve Novack Patten, his son Mark E. Patten, his daughter Suzanne McCluskey (Gary), his sister Linda Patten Thayer (Bob) and his grandson Mason J. Patten, as well as many other relatives and friends. Ed was predeceased by his parents Hillary and Pauline Racico Patten.
Ed was educated at Wentworth Institute in Boston and at Northeastern University where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ed was employed for many years as a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor for Bird Corporation and later Sturtevant, Inc., both of Massachusetts. Ed enjoyed a wide variety of personal interests including skiing, Boston area sports teams and cars especially Corvettes. It was the game of golf that Ed enjoyed the most, a game he played throughout his lifetime. Ed was always eager for a game of cards but enjoyed being with family and friends the most. Ed traveled extensively in the United States and Europe, enjoying visit to the Bar Harbor home of his sister and brother-in-law, the American West and Ireland.
Funeral services are reserved for the immediate family. Burial will be private. A celebration of his life will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to: St. Francis Reflections of Lifestage care 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI.
