Emelie F. Peloquin 72, passed away peacefully at the Woonsocket Health & Rehab on Wednesday May 27, after a two-year courageous battle with lung cancer and a recent stroke. She was the beloved daughter of Gerard and Marielle (Berube) Peloquin and the stepdaughter of the late Rose (Picknik) Peloquin, and the step sister to the late Mary Ann Silva of Attleboro, Ma.
Emelie is survived by her sister, Jeanne Christopher, and her husband, Kenneth of Las Vegas, NV; her two nephews, Kris and Lucas Christopher, and aunt, Pierrette Olinger. She was also the sister of the late Richard Peloquin.
A devoted and compassionate registered nurse, Emelie dedicated her life to caring for others. Her career included life care at Home Care, Pinnacle Home Care, Landmark Medical Center, and Roger Williams Hospital.
She was known for going above and beyond for her patients, always striving to bring them peace, comfort, and dignity-values that guided
Emelie had a deep love for animals. Her cherished companions, her Pomeranian Mylie and her Cavapoo Hudson, brought her tremendous joy. She also rescued and cared for many cats over the years, including her beloved Yoda, Peanut, and Angel. Her gentle heart and kindness extended to every creature she encountered.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and neighbors-many of whom she lovingly considered her “adopted family.” Emelie’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering compassion leaves a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday June 18th at 10:00am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary, 266 Mendon Road Woonsocket, RI 02895 and/or St Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
