Esther H. (Kosciow) Kurczy, 90, of Blackstone, died September 3, 2022 in Milford Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in Blackstone, MA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Pauline (Russin) Kosciow. Esther was the wife of the late Stephen Kurczy for 41 years, until his death in 1995.
A lifelong resident of Blackstone, Esther spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her nine children. Additionally, Esther worked many years at Tupperware before owning her own business, E & S Jewelry. She ended her career working with her daughters at Valley View Daycare and Curious Cubs Childcare. Esther was a woman of faith who loved Jesus. She was a lifelong member of Cornerstone Church (formerly North Uxbridge Baptist Church) in North Uxbridge. She loved volunteering for the AWANA program where all the children knew her as Grandma. She was active in Bible studies, visitation and Vacation Bible School. Esther enjoyed sewing, crocheting and puzzles. She loved listening to gospel music, attending band shows, and cheering on the kids at their sporting events. Ukrainian Christmas celebrations and family meals filled her life. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Esther leaves her children, Anna Williams, and her husband, Alan, of Center Strafford, NH, Stephen Kurczy, and his wife, Linda, of Woodstock, CT, Vera Rothgeb, and her husband, Jonathan of Palm Bay, FL, Peter Kurczy, and his wife, Charlene, of Pascoag, RI, Emil Kurczy of Bellingham, Esther Cote, and her husband, Moe, of Blackstone, Deborah Reget, and her husband, Paul, of Bellingham, Sarah St. Amant, and her husband, Wally, of Blackstone, and David Kurczy, and his wife, Jody, of Mendon; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Alice Bik, Paul Kosciow, Vera Sypko, and Anna Freeman.
Calling hours are Thursday, from 5-7 PM at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket. Her funeral will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, beginning with visitation at 10 AM, followed by a service at 11 AM at Cornerstone Church, 6 Hartford Ave., North Uxbridge, MA.
