Evelyn (Palmari) St. George, 73, of Woonsocket, died June 25, 2024 after battling Alzheimer's for the past eight years. She was the wife of Robert St. George, with whom she would have celebrated 52 years of marriage August 12th. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Simone (Lessard) Palmari, and sister of the late Lucille Tetreault.
Evelyn was educated at Holy Family School and St. Claire High School, graduating in 1969. She went on to RI Junior College, receiving an Associate's Degree in early education, and later received her Bachelor's Degree in early education from Roger Williams College with a 3.98 GPA. Evelyn began her career working at Pawtucket Day Nursery, then went on to work for Providence Head Start, first as a teacher, then as center manager, and finally as the education coordinator manager for all of Providence Head Start. She then returned to Pawtucket Day Nursery as the education coordinator and director. Evelyn retired from education in 2013. She then went to work for Travelers Transit, first as a driver, then as a monitor, retiring in 2019.
Besides her husband, Robert, Evelyn is survived by two nephews, Richard Tetreault and his girlfriend, Gloria Leonard, of Woonsocket, and Steven Palmari and his wife, Crystal, of Douglas, MA; as well as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations of nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the staff of the first and third floors of Trinity Health and Rehab for the loving kindness they showed Evelyn. Evelyn was a loving wife and friend to her husband, and everyone she met. She will be missed by all.
Calling hours are Friday, July 5, 2024 from 4-7 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Her funeral will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 9 AM from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
