Florence A. (Smith) Hornyak

Florence A. (Smith) Hornyak, 88, of Pascoag, passed away October 20, 2025, in Overlook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late John Hornyak. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Florence (Tillinghast) Smith.

Mrs. Hornyak was a devoted wife and mother, and she cherished taking care of her family. Florence loved socializing, ceramics, crocheting, crafting, flea markets and at one point she even owned her own crafts store.

She is survived by her four children, John Hornyak and his wife, Monique, of Watsonville, CA, Denise Grenga and her husband, James, of Greenville, Florence Stevens and her husband, Newton, of Pascoag, and Fran Esquite and her husband, Estuardo, of Woonsocket; eight grandchildren, Celeste, Andrea, Michael, Jet, Ricky, Jeremiah, Bradford, and Josh; and four great grandchildren, Jayden, James, Jacob, and Allison. She was the sister of the late Frederick Smith, Jr.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, beginning with visitation at 9AM followed by a service at 11AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Ave., Warwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 14 Rock Ave., Pascoag, RI 02859.
