Florence A. (Charpentier) Vadenais

Florence A. Vadenais, 97, of Woonsocket, died September 25, 2023 at home, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest "John" Vadenais. Born in Woonsocket, Florence was the daughter of the late Ovide and Virginia (Poirier) Charpentier.

Florence worked as a facilities manager for Bryant University for 15 years before her retirement and previously worked locally at Finklestein and Art Garment, Joe's Supermarket and Peter Pan Ice Cream in Woonsocket.

Florence and her husband "John" were the quintessential "Ozzie and Harriet," couple, always together and inseparable. Whether going for rides in the car, often with no specific destination, and eventually finding themselves exploring places such as Plymouth or Cape Cod, to traveling across the country to Hawaii, they found joy in each other's company, over their 57 year marriage. Even after her husband's passing, Florence still continued to make annual trips to the Cape with her daughter.

Florence instilled the strength of "family" in everything she did, from holidays to her very last days; her family was the most important thing to her and her greatest joy was having the opportunity to see her grandchildren and great grand children grow up. Another of Florence's greatest accomplishments was getting her drivers license in her 50's.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Jean Vadenais, of Woonsocket; three grandchildren, Kevin John Greenough and his wife Laura, Brian Dennis Vadenais and his wife Mallory, Valerie Vadenais and her fiancé, Robert Baez; 7 great grandchildren, Taegan and Aiden Greenough, Lilliana and Domenic Baez, Savannah, Jackson Dennis, and Riley Marie Vadenais; and her nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Dennis Vadenais, and the sister of the late Arthur and Roland Charpentier.

Her funeral will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:30 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 310 Wrentham Rd, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 - 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
