George Gilmore Obituary

George E. Gilmore Sr., 72, of Johnston, died on April 25th, 2026 in his home. He was the husband of Jeanne (Lefebvre) Gilmore. He was born in Providence, and he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Lury) Gilmore.

George was a veteran of the US Air Force where he achieved the rank of Sergeant, and he was an Eagle Scout. He worked as a stationary engineer for Amperex and later Phillips Components. He enjoyed cooking, watching movies, and traveling to NH with his family. He looked forward to spending time with his granddaughter, and he will always be remembered for his wicked sense of humor.

Along with his wife Jeanne, he is survived by their son, George Gilmore Jr. and his partner Katie Young of Johnston; his siblings, John Gilmore Jr. of Davenport, FL, and Lori Lucas of Foster, RI; his granddaughter Piper; his God-daughter Freda Lury of North Kingstown and his God-son Kenneth Lefebvre of Voluntown, Ct, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Robert Gilmore, William Gilmore, and Betty Desourdy.

His funeral will be held Monday, May 4th, 2026 starting with a visitation at 9AM, followed by a service at 11AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St, Woonsocket, or by livestream at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/a2605137212912. The burial will follow in the Pascoag Cemetery, Pascoag, RI.metery, Pascoag.
